Wall E - the miracle dog

Wall E is a canine celebrity now but a little while ago he was just a stray that survived attempt of being euthanized at Oklahoma animal shelter.

Ever since he survived this attempt, people are dying to adopt him. He also made an appearance on national television show. Moreover, his fans are really concerned about his safety.

So far 3000 people have shown interest in adopting him. Moreover, $ 1,200 has been donated for his care. Some people want to breed him for money. Clinic has been receiving all kinds of phone calls & emails. Anyhow, they plan to get him fixed before he’s adopted. Right now he’s going home with designated folks every night.

Veterinarian technician Amanda Kloski started caring about Wall E when he was found alive in a trash bin a day after he was injected twice – once in the foreleg & once in the heart with a lethal dose of sedative. She mentioned his story of survival on a pet adoption website of Marcia Machtiger of Pittsburgh & this lady helps out rescue dogs. Marcia shared Wall E’s story on FB & since then everyone has been showing interest in adopting him.

Dog Lovers Protest Against Culling In Bangladesh

Dog lovers in Dhaka went out to protest against culling. They stood outside Dhaka City Corporation and shouted "Don't Kill! Sterilize!" The reason being that dogs are being killed brutally in Bangladesh by the government's main agency - Dhaka City Corporation every year.

Every year Dhaka City Corporation kills at least 20,000 stray dogs for concerns like rabies in the cities. Killing in the rural areas are also carried out. It is true that Bangladesh has the highest number of people that die of rabies in the entire world. In 2009, around 2000 people died because of rabies in Bangladesh, which is why they are taking it very seriously to control the dog population.

This protest was organized by spreading the message through facebook and twitter to gather dog lovers in one place and this was the first time ever such a protest took place.

Rubaiya Ahmad, who is the head of Obhoyaronnyo Sanctuary spoke that the purpose was to ensure that the brutal practice of fog culling is stopped. The organizers supported the anti-rabies drive but demanded an end to brutal methods used to kill the dogs such as breaking their necks with tongs and beating them to death. Instead, the authorities should sterilize dogs or vaccinate them against rabies.

Their point is use more humane ways of tackling the same issue that are very much there. Rubaiya Ahmad also said, "If you're cruel to animals, you're also cruel to humans, although some Muslims think dogs are unclean, the religion does not prescribe brutal treatment of dogs."

This is indeed very true. No religion is unkind towards any animals. We hope that Bangladesh would opt for more humane and compassionate ways to carry out their anti-rabies drive now.

FB users should sign contract not to show animal snuff media

There is an appalling large amount of users posting videos/media depicting animal torture and snuff for purulent purposes lacking serious political, educational or artistic merit with completely malicious intent. Please be aware this is in violation of Federal law signed by President Obama on 11 December 2010.

MALICIOUS animal torture/snuff (not restricted to "crush") media Contributes to the Delinquency of Minors in violation of laws in ALL 50 States, incites future violent criminals and serial killers (per FBI profiling this is fact), is NOT conducive to the mental hygiene of a nation, therefore IS OBSCENE MATERIAL.

Please urge users to be compliant by having them electronically sign a contract that they agree not to show such animal torture/snuff media on Facebook, or you all will report such abusers to authorities.

COPY OF ACTUAL ANTI ANIMAL CRUSH LAW:

These are some of the clauses of ‘Animal Crush Video Prohibition Act of 2010’.

Each of the several States and the District of Columbia criminalize intentional acts of extreme animal cruelty, such as the intentional crushing, burning, drowning, suffocating, or impaling of animals for no socially redeeming purpose.

There are certain extreme acts of animal cruelty that appeal to a specific sexual fetish. These acts of extreme animal cruelty are videotaped, and the resulting video tapes are commonly referred to as ‘animal crush videos’.

Sec. 48. Animal crush videos

‘(a) Definition- In this section the term ‘animal crush video’ means any photograph, motion-picture film, video or digital recording, or electronic image that--

‘(1) depicts actual conduct in which 1 or more living non-human mammals, birds, reptiles, or amphibians is intentionally crushed, burned, drowned, suffocated, impaled, or otherwise subjected to serious bodily injury (as defined in section 1365 and including conduct that, if committed against a person and in the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States, would violate section 2241 or 2242);
