This is the height of being inhuman! This old man was just feeding few cats & his neighbors just couldn’t stand cats mewing. 1st of all, people don’t go out of their way to help out any stray & then, they even have issues with those who help them. This is disgusting.
Laws against animal abusers are hardly being applied in most places. Municipalities neglect their duty to feed and care for the strays with the EU available funds. Amongst this mess, an old man finds himself in detention centre because he committed the ‘crime’ of feeding stray cats!
The incident happened in the area of Kalavryta, Peloponnese. The ‘crime’ committed by a 73-year-old man was to give some food to the stray cats that were gathering at his house yard. Neighbors complained to the police about the cats’ mewing. The police didn’t take any action as cats did not belong to the old man. So these neighbors went a step ahead – they submitted written complaints to the Prosecutor of Patras!
Naturally the old man had been arrested & taken like a common criminal at the police station. Later on those neighbors felt bad about the progress of the case, however the troubled old man will have to wait for justice authorities to decided whether they will prosecute him for the ‘serious’ misconduct of providing some food to hungry animals.
